Communication & Development Coordinator  (Full-time)

Position Summary:

The Sewickley Valley YMCA is seeking an experienced communication professional to assist in the promotion of the YMCA facilities and programs with current and potential members. The Communication & Development Coordinator will provide fundraising and special event support benefiting the Annual Campaign.

A successful candidate will possess knowledge and experience in the following:

  • Adobe InDesign, WordPress and common social media platforms
  • Nonprofit event planning
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

The candidate must model and teach the Y’s values with a high level of commitment to improving lives in the Quaker Valley, Cornell, Moon Area, and Ambridge Area school districts.

Salary: $21,000-$25,000/year

Day Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

Seasonal position begins June 1st and ends on August 14th

The Y is looking for fun, energetic, enthusiastic counselors.  The incumbent must be a team member, communicate effectively with parents, campers, and other Y staff, have common sense, patience, and creativity is a must.

Experience with children, games, songs, swimming, soccer, basketball, tennis, gymnastics, football, and arts-n-crafts a plus.

Starting salary is $9.10/hr.


Wellness Coach   (Part-time)


The incumbent will work with members in our YMCA and wellness center with their fitness programs and assisting with meeting their goals and objectives.

Qualifications: Out-going personality, good verbal and written communication skills, basic computer skills, being a team player. Fitness background a plus, but not required.

Monday through Friday – 1-5 p.m.



Day, Evening, Weekend, and Holidays

Wage:                   $8.00/hr

20-27 hours per week.  Weekend availability is required.  3-4 shifts per week including weekends.

Basic requirements: (others may also apply)

      • Ability to lift up to 50lbs, use stairs, sweep, mop, carry trash, clean bathrooms and showers, general cleaning
      • Set up/take down tables and chairs for events
      • Work with a team of other housekeepers, and work independently
      • Have reliable transportation
      • Be able to pass a criminal background check
      • Weekend availability


Evenings and Weekends

Certifications — CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, Current YMCA Lifeguard or American Red Cross, Oxygen Administration (required within 30 days of hire), ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
Must demonstrate Lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA Standards

Salary – $7.50/hour


Aquatic Instructors (part-time)
Evenings and Saturdays

The Y is a leading non-profit for strengthening community, and the nation’s longest provider of swim lessons to increase skill and safety in and around water. This position provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for students in swimming classes.
Minimum age – 16 years
Certifications – CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid

Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA Standards YMCA Swim Instructor certification or equivalent

Salary – $7.25/hr


Preschool Teachers

No Weekends! No Evenings! No Holidays!
Infants/Toddlers: Mon-Fri mornings and afternoons
Qualifications: BS or Associates in Early Childhood preferred, CDA acceptable, and 2 years experience working with children
Salary: $9-$11 per hour based on education and experience


After School Teachers

After School Site Directors
Moon Area School District
2:30-6:30pm, Mon-Fri, during the school year
Minimum of Associates degree in education or human services field
and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
Salary – $11.00/hour

After School Group Supervisors
Moon, and Quaker Valley Area School District
2:30-6:30pm, Mon-Fri, during the school year
Minimum of Associates Degree in the education field or human services field
and a minimum of 3 years of experience working with children
Salary – $10.00/hour

Substitute After School Teachers
Ambridge, Moon, and Quaker Valley School Districts
Available between 6:30-10:30am and 2:30-6:30pm
Minimum of High School Diploma and a minimum of 3 years working with children
Salary – $9.00-$10.00/hour depending on education and qualifications
