The Y strives to meet your child’s individual needs by ensuring enthusiasm and excitement for learning and positive attention.  At the Sewickley Valley YMCA we utilize The Creative Curriculum with a focus on S.T.E.A.M. or Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.  Our staff strive to teach your child in the most effective way possible while leaving room for fun and confidence building.

At the Y, we hire child care staff who are fully aware of the partnership needed to ensure your child has the best experience possible. The partnership between parents and staff is important to us.  Together we are able to provide a safe and enriching space for your child to grow. Our child care programs are licensed through the Department of Public Welfare and we participate in the Keystone S.T.A.R.S. quality education program.

We accept CCIS funding and offer limited financial assistance to families who qualify.  For more information, please contact Gloria Cook at 412-741-9622 ext. 128 or gcook@sewickleyymca.org or Cori LaChapelle at 412-741-9622 ext. 143 or clachapelle@sewickleyymca.org .

Friendship Circle and Learning Lab

Age 3-5

At the Sewickley Valley YMCA, your child will enjoy structured learning, independent exploration, and everyday fun.  Children will build confidence through exploration-based curriculum that includes S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math). and age-appropriate activities.  Classroom interest areas such as the sensory table, literacy center, science and math stations allow your child to grow and learn at their own pace, while enrichment classes in music, Spanish and swimming enhance the learning environment.  Our talented and passionate staff will help your child through the final stretch toward kindergarten while encouraging your child’s curiosity to learn.  Our preschool program works closely with Quaker Valley, Ambridge, and Moon Area school districts to evaluate the skills a child needs to enter kindergarten so that your child is prepared with the tools and abilities necessary to succeed in school.
