Dear Sewickley Valley Y members,

As you may have heard today, the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh has filed for bankruptcy protection. As a neighbor and friend of the Greater Pittsburgh Y, we at the Sewickley Valley YMCA wish them all the best as they reorganize their finances and determine the best path forward to fulfill their mission and deliver quality service to their community.

We also want you to know that the Sewickley Valley YMCA is a separate entity and is not impacted in any way by this bankruptcy filing. The bankruptcy filing by the Greater Pittsburgh Y will have no effect on the members, staff, programs or facilities of the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

We are an independent YMCA, and are governed by our own board of directors.   The Sewickley Valley Y is blessed to be in good financial condition and is well positioned to provide exceptional service to our members and the communities which we serve well into the future.

As a YMCA movement, we all work toward the same common goals of promoting Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Each YMCA determines how to best meet the needs of the communities we serve. The Sewickley Valley YMCA is dedicated to serving our communities in ways that allow us to be good stewards of the community and good stewards of our resources. We wish the Greater Pittsburgh Y well as it takes the steps it deems necessary to continue to fulfill its mission to its service community.

Sincerely,

Craig Heryford                                             Trish Hooper
