STRONG SWIMMERS, CONFIDENT KIDS

This year, the Sewickley Valley YMCA launched new lessons to increase the accessibility and enjoyment of swimming to all ages and skill levels. The latest evolution of Y Swim Lessons accommodates varying abilities to help foster a sense of achievement as swimmers progress between levels. Through this approach, advanced swimmers flow more easily to higher levels while swimmers who need more instruction can learn at their own pace. This results in more confident swimmers who stick with lessons and develop a love for swimming that can last a lifetime.“We want swim lessons to be a rite of passage for ALL children, and to help kids stay safe in and around the water while developing a love of swimming,” said Kelly Wagner, Senior Director for Aquatics. Our Aquatics staff members are available to answer any questions about the swim program and to help place your child at the appropriate swim level.

Beginning January 2018, we will be offering one free swim lesson per the calendar year for each child under 12 and on an active Family membership. This extends to include preschool level swim lessons, which were not free as a membership benefit in the past. Additional lessons will be charged at the member rate for children on active Family memberships. Participants must register at the YMCA for the free lesson. Registration for the free swim lesson must be done at the YMCA or over the phone.  Online registration for the free lesson is unavailable, and refunds will not be provided.
