SWIM TEAM IS OLYMPIC SIZE FUN
For Ages 6 to 18 years
Our co-ed competitive swim team emphasizes teamwork, fun, character development and good sportsmanship. The structured, supervised swim team practices will focus on stroke technique, endurance and interval training. Swim practices are tailored to the level of the swimmers and are designed to help them meet their individual goals while still taking part in a team activity. New Swimmers must have completed Jr. Sea Dragon, Stage 5 / Stroke Development or equivalent swimming ability to ensure proper placement within the program.
Like the Y, Clearview Federal Credit Union believes that youth swim team provides the opportunity to experience the health benefits of swimming. Clearview Federal Credit Union has generously sponsored the timing equipment and scoreboard for youth swim team.
Meet the Swim Coaches
Sea Dragons Swim Coach, Paula Kwalick
Paula Kwalick began competitive swimming at the age of 6 for the Bellevue Barracudas and the Community House Swim Clubs. She continued swimming for Bellevue, becoming a lifeguard and teaching swimming lessons through high school. She began her coaching career as an age group coach for the Montour Marlins Swim Club for 2 seasons.
Paula left the Marlins to accept the Novice (8 & under), coaching position here at the Y where she is going on her 13th year. “My goal is to instill a love of the sport by helping each swimmer set and work toward goals while having fun and building lasting relationships. Swim team reaches far beyond the pool, teaching kids time management, good sportsmanship, and teamwork.”
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Britany Coulter
"After always loving being in and around the water since I was a toddler, I started swimming for Moon Area School District and Moon Aqua Club in seventh grade. I continued to swim for both the school and club through my senior year. I've taught swim lessons and worked as a lifeguard for four years, and could not be happier to continue my love for swimming at the Sewickley Valley YMCA." - Britany
