What to Expect

As of April 5, Family Swim in the warm water pool will accommodate three families at one time. Reservations will open three days in advance at 7 a.m.

• Family swim reservations are reserved for 60 minutes.
• Pool equipment is not available. You may bring your lifejackets, or float belts may be purchased at the front desk.
• If you must cancel your reservation, please do as quickly as possible to open up a space for someone else.
• You can cancel your reservation by using the link in your confirmation email up to one hour before your reservation.
• If you are 15 minutes late for your reservation, your space may be forfeited.
• If families reserve a spot and repeatedly do not show, they may lose the opportunity to make a reservation in the future.
• Space will not be saved for walk-ins.

• Registration is required and available 72 hours in advance for members only.
• As a result of the new guidance by the CDC and an updated mask mandate from the state, fully vaccinated people do not have to mask at facilities like our YMCA.
• Registrants must stop by the Welcome desk for a health screening, temperature scan and check-in. 
• Each class participant will have a designated space to maintain distance from others.
• Don't forget to bring a bottle of water and mat.

• Anyone with a fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, or who has symptoms of, or exposure to COVID-19 will not be allowed to use the Y until symptoms have subsided for 24 hours. Cover all coughs and sneezes with your arm, and wash hands thoroughly after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose. We’ve installed a sink in the lobby so you can wash your hands when you enter, or as you pass through the locker rooms on your way to the wellness center or pools.
• All members who have not completed the updated waiver since our June reopening will be required to do so.
• We ask that you either have your key card or load your key card onto your phone for quick access to the Y. If you need help getting the card information to your phone, please contact the Y at 412-741-9622 ext. 121 or 105 or membership@sewickleyymca.org for help with this or other membership questions. Our membership staff can answer other questions, too. 
• Bring your own water bottle. The hand-operated portion of water fountains are disabled, but the touchless bottle filler will work.
• Appropriate footwear is required in all areas of the Y. Members will not be permitted to walk to and from the showers or pools barefoot. Flip-slops or water shoes are recommended for the showers, locker rooms and pools.

Beginning April 5, lap swim in the large pool will accommodate two people per lane. This change is in accordance with the state capacity limit increases and guidance from USA Swimming on safe lap swimming.  Reservations will open up at 9 p.m. four days in advance.

Lap swimming items to remember:

• Please expect to share a lap lane. Those sharing a lane will rest at opposite ends of the pool per USA Swimming guidelines.
• We encourage those not yet comfortable sharing a lane with a stranger to find a buddy to share the lane.
• Lap Swimmers are permitted to make one reservation per day. 
• As of April 5, all lap swimmers will require a separate reservation, regardless of whether they are in the same family.
• Face masks are required in the YMCA at all times and may only be removed only during swimming and showering. 
• Adult lap swim reservations are for individuals ages 14 and over for 45 minutes with a 15-minute transition period.
• Lap swimmers must bring their kickboards and aquatic equipment.
• If you must cancel your reservation, please do as quickly as possible to open up a space for someone else.

Our YMCA has adhered to the state’s COVID-19 mitigation efforts throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so. As a result of today’s new guidance by the CDC and an updated mask mandate from the state, fully vaccinated people do not have to mask inside facilities like our YMCA. Those who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated (two weeks past their full vaccine dosage) must mask when inside the YMCA. Based on this guidance, all children 15 and under still must mask when inside of the Y. Children aged 12-15 can go maskless two weeks after receiving their second vaccine shot.

We are seeking clarification for child care staff and parents entering child care spaces and ask that parents and staff in our child care centers continue to mask while we determine whether state licensing regulations will reflect these changes.

• We will continue our cleaning and sanitation efforts and ask that you do the same. Please wipe down your machines and equipment before and after each use. The cleaning before use protects you. Cleaning after use protects the next person using the equipment. We’ll have cleaners and towels throughout the Y for you to use. 
• Group Ex classes capacity has been reduced, requires a reservation and will have designated spaces on the floors for participants. Group Ex classes will be held in the CV gym or the Hunter Gym. Please bring your own water bottle and mat.

As you may know, Gov. Wolf has announced that the state will be lifting all COVID-19 mitigation measures with the exception of the mask mandate on May 31. In response, our Y is planning to reopen spaces and relaunch many of the programs and activities that were paused over the past year. You can expect more information from us in the days leading up to May 31 detailing when activities will resume, and any changes to our offerings. In the meantime, you will see us rearranging different spaces within the Y as we prepare for more activity. 

We are excited to have the Y take another step toward more normal operations. Our Y will continue to abide by the PA mask mandate for facilities like ours until it is lifted. We’ve taken member and staff safety very seriously throughout the pandemic and will continue to do so. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding throughout these past months. Our Y is such a great place because of the kindness and caring of our members. 

For the time being, we will not be allowing guests or Nationwide members. With reduced capacity, we want to ensure that our Y members have access to classes, pool lap lanes and equipment and reduce crowding.
