VOLUNTEER-DRIVEN, CARE-FOCUSED AND COMMUNITY-CENTERED

Faith in Action benefits seniors and people with disabilities by providing transportation to doctor’s appointments, medical treatments, and grocery stores. Through our network of volunteers, we are helping our elderly neighbors remain independent with dignity by providing a service they can trust. If you want to volunteer with us and make a difference in your community, contact our Faith in Action Director, Heather Ochman, by phone at 412-741-9622 ext. 135 or email at hochman@sewickleyymca.org.

Our programs extend beyond our front door in keeping with the Sewickley Valley YMCA’s mission to improve the quality of life for individuals and families in our communities. The Y is more than a gym. We are a trusted local resource that seeks to provide you and your loved ones with the care they need. All of our Faith in Action volunteers have received a background check, and some have been part of our YMCA family for years as both members and staff. The Faith in Action transportation program is open to any adults over 60 years of age who reside in the Ambridge, Cornell, Moon Area, or Quaker Valley school districts. Branches are located in Zelienople, as well. If you or a loved one need transportation, contact us to schedule an intake interview at 412-741-9622 ext. 135 or faithinaction@sewickleyymca.org.

The COVID-19 pandemic provided new ways for Faith in Action volunteers to serve the community by delivering food boxes to families facing food insecurity. Faith in Action partners with community organizations like the Valley Care Endowment and Heritage Valley Health System to connect local care receivers and caregivers with the various resources in and around their communities, of which many people are unaware. By coordinating with trusted community-based organizations, the Faith in Action team can help effectively deliver the right services for each of our unique care receivers. If you or someone you know needs assistance, contact our Community Resources Coordinator at seniorcentral@sewickleyymca.org.

A partnership with the Valley Care Endowment supports this important work.
