GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY

Faith in Action, a free community outreach program of the Sewickley YMCA, provides the elderly in our service communities with volunteer drivers to help them remain independent and a vital part of their community by providing rides to doctor appointments and medical treatments.  Volunteers are vital to helping folks conduct errands that keep them living independently in their homes.  Faith in Action also provides information and referrals for additional life-sustaining services in the community.

Since the start of the pandemic, Faith in Action volunteers have checked in on our elderly care receivers with phone calls and visits, delivered prescriptions and groceries, and delivered weekly and bi-weekly food boxes to families and individuals struggling with food insecurity due to sudden loss of jobs and other economic hardships caused by COVID-19.

If you would like to be a part of a great volunteer team and give back to your community, please contact Heather Ochman, Director, at hochman@sewickleyymca.org 412-741-9622 x135 to apply.
