GET READY TO GRAB YOUR BACKPACK, CAMP IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.

The countdown is on, and our Session A Youth Day Camp is just around the corner, starting on Monday, June 5th! We understand that planning for a day camp can feel a little overwhelming, but don't worry, as we've got you covered! Below, you'll find all the information you need to make camp an unforgettable experience.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR AND BRING?
Campers will be playing outside, so let's face it, they're going to get dirty. Please send your camper in clothes, tennis shoes and a hat that you're okay with getting messy.

  • Backpack to hold their items
  • Small, cooler-type lunch box filled with a healthy, hearty lunch
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Swimsuit and towel
  •
  • Sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher).

We recommend labeling your camper's water bottle, sunscreen, backpack and lunch box with their name. All items left behind at the end of the day will be placed in the lost and found box located at the Walter J. Brannon Community Activity Center. Camp lost and found will not be at the YMCA main campus.

WHAT SHOULD STAY AT HOME?
We totally get it, it's hard to resist the urge to pack everything, however, the only screen that your camper should bring is a bottle of sunscreen! With so many fun activities planned, we want campers to disconnect from technology. Please leave all electronics, special toys, and Pokemon cards at home. If these items are brought, the Y staff may collect and return them when the child is picked up. The Y is not responsible for lost items.

WHERE TO PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF YOUR CAMPER
Click here to download pick-up and drop-off locations for all youth camps.

PHOTO ID
A photo I.D. must be shown by anyone picking up children from the YMCA. Anyone who does not have a photo I.D. will not be allowed to pick up a child. Thank you for understanding our Y’s strong commitment to keeping children safe.

PICKING YOUR CAMPER UP EARLY
Camps will always be at their designated pick-up locations at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. If you need to pick up your child earlier. Please come directly to our front desk at the YMCA so they can locate the appropriate camp. Since the camps have the freedom to roam throughout the Y’s campus during the day, please allow time to locate your child.

PARKING LOT REMINDERS
The speed limit for both the parking lot of the Y and War Memorial Park is 5 mph. Our Y has members of all ages and sizes, including infants and toddlers going to child care as well as campers. To ensure the safety of everyone, we strongly advise driving at slow speeds in our lots. In addition, do not leave other children unattended in your vehicle during pick-up and drop-off. Thank you for helping to create a safe environment for children, families and adults.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Campers will spend most of the day outside, but in the event of heavy rain, campers will be moved indoors. If your child is enrolled in Funk Factory and Lego camp, drop-off will be at the Community Activity Center, just beyond our upper parking lot. All other camp drop-off and pick-up will be at the YMCA and a staff member will be available in the lobby to direct you to your child’s camp location.

Mr. Marc - he's not just any ordinary YMCA Director, he also keeps an eye on the radar to ensure all campers stay safe and dry during sudden rainstorms. And just so you're aware, there have been times when heavy rain is right around the corner and even though it is not currently raining, as a precaution, we'll have a rainy day drop-off or pick-up. If it is a rainy day drop-off or pick-up, rainy day signs will be posted at the entrance of the parking lots. We will also be working diligently to share rainy day drop-off and pick-up updates on social media and through e-communications.

TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP
Campers will spend their mornings focusing on camp activities. So if your child is enrolled in Funk Factory, they will learn fun dance routines in the morning or if your child is enrolled in tennis camp, they will spend the morning practicing tennis skills and drills. After lunch, kids will break from their themed camp into age groups. Each afternoon, the age groups will have swimming time, go hiking, play games, slip-n-slide and participate in various activities. Then, campers will reunite with their themed camps at 4:15 p.m. for the closing ceremony and pick-up. On the first Friday of each session, kids will participate in our YMCA carnival and on the second Friday, campers will travel by bus to Settler's Wave Pool. There is a concession stand at the Wave Pool, and parents can send a little extra money for treats, but it is not required.

SWIMMING
Here at the Y, we swim test each camper, in each session. By doing this, we evaluate each swimmer's ability in the water to ensure the safety of everyone. There are three different levels giving campers appropriate access to the different areas of the pool. Campers will have the opportunity to swim in the large pool every afternoon.
