SWIM TEAM IS OLYMPIC SIZE FUN
For Ages 6 to 18 years
Our co-ed competitive swim team emphasizes teamwork, fun, character development and good sportsmanship. The structured, supervised swim team practices will focus on stroke technique, endurance and interval training. Swim practices are tailored to the level of the swimmers and are designed to help them meet their individual goals while still taking part in a team activity. New Swimmers must have completed Jr. Sea Dragon, Stage 5 / Stroke Development or equivalent swimming ability to ensure proper placement within the program.
Like the Y, Clearview Federal Credit Union believes that youth swim team provides the opportunity to experience the health benefits of swimming. Clearview Federal Credit Union has generously sponsored the timing equipment and scoreboard for youth swim team.
Meet the Swim Coaches
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Britany Coulter
"After always loving being in and around the water since I was a toddler, I started swimming for Moon Area School District and Moon Aqua Club in seventh grade. I continued to swim for both the school and club through my senior year. I've taught swim lessons and worked as a lifeguard for four years, and could not be happier to continue my love for swimming at the Sewickley Valley YMCA." - Britany
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Anna Eckert
"I enjoy working at the Y where I grew up as a swimmer and camper myself. I joined the aquatic staff 18 years ago (1999) teaching all levels of swimming as an after-school job. After a few years of assistant coaching, I look forward to other roles in swim team such as being an official and organizing meets. I live and work in the North Hills but the Sewickley Y will always be my aquatic home." - Anna
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Liz Keller
"My name is Liz Keller and I'll be an assistant coach this year. I swam competitively from age 8 until age 18 for the Carlisle Family YMCA in Carlisle, PA and for Boiling Springs High School back home. Through high school I taught swim lessons to kids of all ages and really enjoyed seeing a stroke or technique "click" for kids after lots of hard work. Breaststroke is my favorite stroke to swim, and I still try to swim at least two times a week to supplement my other fitness obsessions: running and lifting." - Liz
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Paula Kwalick
Sea Dragons Assistant Swim Coach, Amber Miller
"I started swimming at the age of 8, beginning on the Woodland Swim Team in the summers and eventually joining the Sewickley YMCA Sea Dragons to swim year-round. In high school, I swam for Pine-Richland Aquatics and competed for Quaker Valley High School, where I was a 4-year WPIAL qualifier and team captain. I went on to swim at the NCAA level for Washington & Jefferson College. For the Presidents, I was an 11-time conference finalist and team captain." - Amber
In terms of coaching experience, Amber served as an assistant coach for the Woodland Swim Team in 2015 and took over as head coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Her first year as an assistant coach with the Sewickley YMCA Sea Dragons was in 2016. Amber works with swimmers in every age group on the team, from novice to senior. She also teaches group swim lessons at the YMCA.
