On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, The Pittsburgh Foundation and The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County will host the #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert — a 24-hour online giving day that strengthens nonprofits in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties serving vulnerable populations.
Helping Neighbors Meet Basic Needs
Far too many people across our region struggle to meet their basic needs. One-in-five Pittsburghers is food insecure. Access to affordable housing and child care continues to fall short. These challenges lead to instability, stress, and missed opportunities — especially for families already stretched thin.
When people have reliable access to essentials like housing, child care, health care, and food, they are empowered to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. Nonprofits are on the front lines, working every day to make this a reality.
YMCA’s Local Impact
The Sewickley Valley YMCA has again been selected by The Pittsburgh Foundation to benefit from #ONEDAY Critical Needs Alert funding. Donations raised will directly support the Y’s early childhood education and food access programs, ensuring that local families have the resources they need to thrive.
Amplify Your Gift
Donations made through the #ONEDAY online platform are amplified by prorated incentive funds from the sponsoring foundations. That means every dollar goes even further to help people facing food insecurity, job instability, child care shortages, and housing challenges.
Contribute on August 5
Together, we can support the nonprofits that are the backbone of our community and ensure they have the resources to continue their vital work. Your support matters — and this opportunity lasts only one day. On Tuesday, August 5, join the movement to ensure everyone in our region can meet their most basic needs.
