At the Sewickley Valley YMCA, we know how important it is to feel confident in your child’s earliest care. Our infant program provides a safe, nurturing, and loving environment where babies ages 6 weeks through 12 months can grow, learn, and thrive during their first year of life.
A Safe and Caring Start
Infants receive attentive care from trained YMCA staff who are committed to the well-being of every child. We maintain small group sizes and follow state licensing standards to ensure each baby gets the individualized attention they need. Safety, cleanliness, and consistency are at the heart of our daily routine.
Individualized Care and Flexible Schedules
Every baby develops at their own pace. Our staff works with parents to follow individualized schedules that support each child’s eating, sleeping, and play routines. Parents are asked to share their child’s daily schedule upon enrollment, which can be updated as the child’s needs change. This flexible approach ensures babies are cared for in a way that matches their unique growth and developmental stage.
Supporting Growth and Milestones
During the first year, children experience rapid physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. Staff provide developmentally appropriate opportunities to support milestones such as tummy time, reaching and grasping, sensory play, first words, and early mobility. The Sewickley Valley YMCA uses the Ounce Scale, a nationally recognized assessment tool, to help track and support each child’s development progress in partnership with parents.
